Just Appalling....

I was watching Oprah today and she had a show on about puppy mills in America and the state in which animals are kept. It was just disgusting how the animals are treated as nothing more than breeding vessels to keep producing more and more puppies. My initial reaction was.... only in America could it be that bad.... it wouldn't be like that here in Australia - which I guess is a pretty typical reaction for Aussies. I WAS WRONG!!

There are puppy mills operating here in Australia which supply pet stores with pets for people to buy. I just don't understand it - I remember doing my Year 12 work experience at the RSPCA and going in to one of the sheds to find a ute covered with a tarp. Out from under the tarp I could see fur and little paws sticking out a bit - it had been the day when the euthanised animals that were either unwanted or too sick to be adopted out. Why have these puppy farms churning out all these dogs just to have so many spat out at the other end through animal shelters and such?? Not to mention the horrific lives that the breeding mothers have - being kept in cages all their lives in terrible conditions.

On happier news... I have managed to do a bit of creating over the last couple of days so here are a look at some of them....

Playing with paint and hidden journalling - hid the journalling so well you can't even see it anymore! LOL

Also had a bit of a play with some masking fluid on this one.... didn't quite work out like I thought as the masking fluid was a lot runnier than I thought it would be...


Did this next one a while ago... reminder to self - Glitter paint takes a LONG time to dry!

I like this next one cause it feels all light and airy - you can't really see but there are seed beads stuck in some of the circles.
